Light is both subject and force in my painting. It reveals and conceals, transforms familiar forms and challenges the boundaries of perception.

Working across landscape, architecture and the human figure, I explore moments of presence and absence, where forms emerge, dissolve or become something other than what they appear to be.

Recent Works – FIO DE LUZ | A LUZ DO ALGARVE

A body of contemporary paintings inspired by the distinctive light of the Algarve. Through landscape, architecture and the visual character of southern Portugal, I explore how light transforms familiar places, revealing shifting atmospheres, colours and relationships between natural and built environments.

Moving between observation and interpretation, these paintings capture not simply the appearance of a place, but the changing experience of being within it.

Grażyna Ostrowska is a contemporary painter based in Faro, Portugal. Educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she has lived and worked internationally, developing an artistic practice shaped by different cultural environments and ways of seeing.

Her work explores light, perception and transformation across landscape, architecture and the human figure. Often beginning with watercolour studies made on location, her practice moves between direct observation and studio exploration, investigating how atmosphere, colour and emotional presence shape our perception of the visible world.
